Myths around fruit consumption
There’s a bunch of myths around fruits:
- They get you fat.
- After 4 pm you shouldn’t eat fruits because they get you fat.
- Fruits shouldn’t be combined.
The sugar of fruits, is fructose, which is a great source of energy, fiber, vitamins, and minerals that have benefits for health, when you gain weight it is because you are consuming more calories than the ones you are using, but this isn’t necessarily caused by fruit consumption. If you have a balanced nutrition that covers your nutrition needs, you will have a an adequate weight control. Additional to this, fruits’ nutritional values don’t change depending on the time of the day in which you consume them. You won’t gain from them more calories at 11 am than at 4:10 pm.
So, why will you refrain from the benefits fruits bring you. Fruits are mostly made up of water, and are a great source of vitamins and minerals that help many functions of the organism. You should consume at least 3 portions of fruits a day, forget these myths and include fruits in your daily diet.
